Prizes galore at the British Eventing Scotland Awards Ball

The annual British Eventing Scotland Awards Ball, hosted at Airth Castle, Stirlingshire on 14 November 2015, saw a fantastic night had by all with the trophy presentations taking place for the 2015 season.

Perthshire’s Stephanie O`Neil and her own Millridge Auroras Diamond topped off an excellent 2015, after also taking 22nd place at the European CIC** Championships this year, the pair received the Stirlingshire Saddle Fitters Arena Event Trophy from Louise Smith Kibaris for leading on points for the series.

The Muirsland Dowrie Memorial Trophy, donated by the Cooper Family and presented by Henny Cooper, for the best Scot in the National Saddle Centre BE100 Under 18 Championships at Weston Park went to Izzy Bamford (16) and Miss Kristen Bamford’s Coosh. The East Lothian based combination added just 0.4 of a time penalty to their 30.8 dressage score to finish sixth at the Under 18 Championships.

Katie Lilford presented 16 year old Eloise Plant from Aberdeenshire and her own A Kind Of Magic the Robert Wilson Memorial Trophy for Airowear BE80 Training Classes Points Winner, whilst Sutherland’s Amanda Waugh and her own Fan Daby Angus took the Ribbons and Tails Trophy for the BE90 Points Series.

The Haddow Perpetual Quaich prize, presented by Caro Haddow, went to Laura Runciman, 16 from Berwickshire in the Scottish Borders, and her own Soviet Star for topping the BE100 Under 18 Points Series, as Alex Meikle from East Lothian took the BE100 Points Series on Damdeasy. Alex received the Tommy Pink Trophy, donated by The Mayberry Family, from Rose Macpherson.

Presented by Grace Moran, the Duneanne Trophy, donated by the Macrae Family for the best Scottish U18 Open Novice qualifierperformance by a Grade 3 horse at start of season, was awarded to 16 year old Rosa Onslow from Roxburghshire on Ms Cindy Onslow’s Templebready Miss Bailey.

Collecting her second award of the evening, Eloise Plant, this time with her own Hearne Lass, picked up the Dundrum Sam Quaich, kindly donated by the Dun Family and presented by Suzy Dun, for the Highest placed Scottish Rider at the KBIS ON Under 18 Championships.

Fiona Muirhead presented the Scottish Equestrian Association Performance Trophy for the best placed Scot in the CCI2* at Hopetoun International to 2015 FEI European Young Rider Championship team gold medallist Isabella Innes Ker (pictured) on the Duchess of Roxburghshire’s Rosses Captain. The award for the best placed Scot in the CCI1* at Hopetoun went to Ayrshire’s Euan Hammersley on Mr George Hammersley’s Dionysus N, who received the McLeod Trophy, donated by the Late Mary McFarlane.

Livy Agnew kindly presented the awards for the Scottish Champions BE90, BE100 and Novice levels, with Karon Carson from East Lothian and her own Finding Nico taking the BE90 trophy, Roxburghshire’s Tiffany Mactaggart on Mr D Mactaggart`s Highly Delighted collecting the BE100 prize and James Sommerville from North Yorkshire receiving the Novice award on Mr J C P Ellwood`s Fellside Fancy Free.

Also presented by Livy Agnew, The Little Beau Trophy is awarded to an U18 showing outstanding Horsemanship/Sportsmanship over the year, this year going to 17 year old Anne Thomson from Midlothian.

The Mondana Star Trophy donated by The Haddow Family for the highest Scottish BE points winner 18 years or under was presented by Jim Spiers to Lucinda Crawford, 14 from Roxburghshire, and 17 year old Isabella Mackenzie from Moray.

2015 FEI Senior European Championship squad member Wills Oakden, 25 from Fife, was awarded the Moorhouse Horsebox Trophy, donated by Moorhouse Horseboxes and presented by BE Chief Executive David Homes, for being the highest BE points winner aged 25 years or under.

David Holmes also presented the BE Scotland Trophy for the Leading Scottish Owned BE Points Winning Horse to Mr Ronnie Bartlett’s Bear Necessity V ridden by Blyth Tait.

The Stirlingshire Saddle Fitters Scottish Points Championship Trophy for the Leading Points Winning Horse on The Scottish Circuit was presented by Alene Telfer & Louise Kibaris to Roxburghshire’s Cameron and Mary Crawford`s Turbo Toy, ridden by Lucinda Crawford.

Mr David Kenwright`s Greystone Midnight Melody (ridden By Wills Oakden), claimed the Scottish Equine Breeders Association Event Horse Trophy, presented by Les Smith, for the highest BE points winning horse bred in Scotland, with Wills Oakden also taking home the Scottish Equestrian Association Trophy for the Highest BE Points Winning Rider resident in Scotland.

Finally, The Les Smith Sportscotland Trophy for the Highest Ranked Scottish Rider in the FEI Rankings went to Nicky Roncoroni, who finished the 2015 season with a total of 135 FEI points.
