Get set to Step up to Novice with British Eventing
For riders hoping to move up to, or to become more established at Novice level in 2016 the new ‘Step up to Novice’ initiative from British Eventing Training & Education is set to provide the perfect stepping stone through the levels.
Piloted across two regions in 2015, this year ‘Step up to Novice’ will be rolled out across every region from the beginning of May. A result of requests from riders wanting to make the move up to Novice level from BE100 as smooth and safe as possible, the BE Accredited training is open to riders established at BE100 level who would like to move up to or those wanting to become more confident at Novice.
Initially the training will cover the show jumping and cross country phases with the potential to include dressage in the future if demand is high. BE are also looking at scheduling select training dates to fit with the new BE105 class pilot to allow people to put in to action what they have learnt from the ‘Step up to Novice’ training. The BE105 classes will see riders complete a Novice dressage test, 1.05m show jumping track and cross country course, which is aimed at helping riders progress through the levels from BE100 to Novice. More information on the BE105 classes including dates for 2016 can be found HERE.
Training & Education Manager Hilary Trahair commented; “We are really pleased to be expanding this initiative to support more riders in the often daunting step to Novice level. The idea behind these training days came from the riders themselves, and our new regional support structure has allowed us to increase training opportunities to meet this demand. Our ongoing aim is to offer all riders a safer, more confident progression through the levels, and ‘Step up to Novice’ is a perfect example of how this can be achieved.”
