British Eventing South West Rankings 2016

Now in its second year we congratulate the winners of the 2016 South West Rankings. Open to all horse and rider combinations competing at BE80(T), BE90 and BE100 across the South West, results are determined by points automatically allocated to the top riders in each section.

BE80(T)

This year Gemma Wells from Barnstaple and her own Finnion take home the overall and best under 21 rider in the BE80(T) league on 93 points, following the results in their six runs at Airowear BE80(T) level this year which included a second place at Bicton Arena (2) Horse Trials in July.

The the best senior rider on 67 points went to Denise West from Bridgwater on her own Emo, with Heidi Rose and Pixie Dust from Honiton taking second place with 86 points. Alexander Broom from Portskewett on Barons Mini Me complete the top three in the BE80(T) rankings after collecting a total of 75 points.

BE90

The BE90 rankings saw Livvy Nile from Blandford Forum come out on top with Peter and Janet Hunt’s Brendonhill Billy Bunter, the duo have enjoyed a consistent season placing in the top ten for all of their BE90 competitions in 2016.

Best under 21 rider and second in the rankings, Alisha Coombes from Ringwood, finished just one point behind the winner on Delhurens Upsey Daisy with Fordingbridge’s Katie Ingram finishing third and also picking up her qualification to the 2017 Mitsubishi Motors Cup on Hollyhatch Highflyer. The best senior rider was won by Sheila Williams from Highbridge riding Alvescot Peppi, another combination to collect their place to the Mitsubishi Motors Cup next year.

BE100

Archie Lowe from Blandford Forum made it a double win in the BE100 rankings finishing in the top spot and taking the best under 21 rider with Smashing Iris. Despite an injury in August putting an end to his season their six top ten placings at BE100 level awarded them with 218 points and the win.

Just four points behind the winner Sophie Clotworthy from Wimborne took second place with Baileys Spirit whilst Amy Barlow from Sturminster and Earth Star and Aaron Millar from Dorchester on Friendship VDL shared third position with a joint placing.

Winners of each ranking were awarded with a British Eventing Membership for the year with second place taking home a BE Horse Season Pass. Third place are presented with £50 kindly donated by Cheffings Equine in the BE100 and Nutwell Horse Trials Committee in the BE90 and BE80(T) rankings.
