Chief Executive Jude Matthews

A passionate and active grassroots event rider, Jude has served on the BE Board since April 2018, and brings with her more than 17 years’ experience with organisations such as KPMG, Hanson PLC, and more recently in her role as General Counsel & Company Secretary at FTSE100 listed Hargreaves Lansdown PLC.

Wendy McGowan

Before joining British Eventing, Wendy spent 18 years working for a defence company, seeing various take overs and restructures, and was the Managing Director of one of the subsidiaries. When she has time, Wendy enjoys being outdoors and caravanning as well as cycling and walking. You will find Wendy at Blenheim and often Aston-le-Walls, Offchurch Bury and other events around the country.

Chief Sport Officer Paul Graham

Paul worked at BE from 2001 to 2011 in the roles of International Liaison Officer and Sport Development Manager. After six years at British Dressage as Sport Operations Manager, he moved to British Triathlon as Head of Customer Experience. Most recently Paul ran his own Sport Consultancy. Paul has competed up to CCI3*-L and continues to be involved as an owner of a horse competing in the BE youth programmes.

Executive Assistant Renee Groeninx

Renee has extensive experience working in the equestrian industry as well as working in office based roles using her language skills. She has been PA to the CEO of British Eventing for 16 years and enjoys art and spending time with her horse.

Debbie has been part of the team at British Eventing since 2004. Before joining she worked in the racing industry and has a degree in Equine Business Management. Outside of eventing and horses Debbie enjoys food, cooking and spending time with her dogs.

Assistant Sport Manager Alexandra Bright

Alex has over five years experience working in the BE Sport Team, previously as Officials and Rules Coordinator. She has experience working as Event Organiser at the Pony Club and holds a BA Equine and Business Studies from Harper Adams University/Warwickshire College. In her spare time Alex enjoys running, cycling and skiing.

Samantha Ruck-Harris

Before joining British Eventing, Sam worked as a recruitment consultant for JLR and as a quality analyst for Aston Martin. She has experience working in the training department at BE, before moving to the Sport Team. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and taking the children out with their ponies.

Stephanie Toogood

 

 

Steph previously worked as Safety and Coaching Coordinator at BE as well as Training Coordinator at British Show jumping. She studied Law at the University of East Anglia and enjoys producing her young horse for eventing in her spare time. Steph can be found in many different regions speaking to volunteers.

Officials & Rules Coordinator Clare Boardman 

Clare previously worked for The Pony Club for 18 years in many roles including Marketing, Sport, Officials and Volunteers, as well as Secretary for Pony Racing.  Before that she was Marketing Assistant for the BHS Horse Trails Group/British Horse Trials Association (now BE), where she combined her enjoyment of eventing and working within the sport. Clare has evented up to Advanced level  and recently has been jumping at British Show Jumping.  She now owns an ex-racehorse, who she hopes to be eventing soon.

Risk Management Coordinator Una Blower

Una used to work as Fixtures, Schedules and Results coordinator at BE. She has previously worked at British Riding Clubs and holds a BSc in Equine Sports Science and an MSc in Animal Manipulation. Alongside her work at BE, Una is a qualified McTimoney Equine and Canine practitioner. She has an ex-racehorse who she enjoys competing when she has the time.

Team Leader Anne Kimberley

Anne has vast experience working in the Membership Team at British Eventing and as team leader. She has previously worked in the membership and safety team at the BHS and holds her BHSI and BHSII stable manager qualifications. Anne enjoys time on her smallholding and competing her horses in her spare time.

Membership Services Hannah Collins

Before joining British Eventing Hannah worked in project management within the leisure industry and holds a project management qualification. She had a year's experience working in the Training and Education Team at BE before moving to the Membership Team. Hannah is a keen hockey player and enjoys getting out to events when time allows.

Membership Services & FEI Registrations Clare Smith

Clare is an experienced member of the team at British Eventing. Previous to this role she worked as Assistant Yard Manager at a residential equine college for young adults with special needs as well as working for the Prince's Trust as education and employment team leader. Clare can often be seen out eventing her little cob Harvey or fence judging.

Training and Education Manager Sean Maxwell

Sean used to be in the Household Cavalry and represented GB Military in eventing competitions in Germany, Sweden and Portugal. Before joining BE he worked as the lead internal quality assessor for an apprenticeship work provider and holds a degree in Education and the BHSI qualification. Sean has spent 15 years as Head of the Equine Department in a Grade 1 Further Education College. In his spare time Sean enjoys eventing, racing and keeping fit.

Helen Hart

Before joining the team at British Eventing, Helen worked at the Pony Club as Secretary for Eventing and Tetrathlon. She holds a BA(Hons) in Equine studies and has previous experience working as a Yard Technician and Residential Warden at Warwickshire College. Helen plays for a local netball team in her spare time and volunteers at local equestrian events.

Olivia Szajna

Olivia has worked in marketing for 12 years and has previous experience heading up marketing teams at IKEA and the London Borough of Hillingdon. She holds a Masters degree in Advertising and Marketing as well as a Professional Postgraduate Diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing. Olivia enjoys eventing her wonder-horse Ozzie and can often be seen at events supporting her partner James, an Irish event rider and BE Accredited Coach.

Emily Dunn

Emily spent six years as an event groom before she joined the British Equestrian Federation in 2014 as Communications and Marketing Assistant. Emily moved to British Eventing in 2015 and completed a Public Relations Foundation degree in 2017. Emily has evented up to Intermediate level and in her spare time can often be found running or walking her dog Cooper.

Eryn Wilkinson

Eryn holds a BSc (Hons) in Biology and Chemistry and worked on dressage yards for two years prior to joining BE. She enjoys hiking and the great outdoors, and is an avid gym-goer in her spare time. Bev is a highly experienced Salesforce analyst, having used and implemented the CRM system previously in the Media industry. Outside of work Bev enjoys exercising and is passionate about live music.

Alison has much experience working in the accounts team at British Eventing. Before joining the team she worked for a family pharmacy company for 21 years. Accounts Assistant Georgi Birch

Georgi is an ex Mechanical Engineering student from the University of Exeter, and has been riding since the age of seven. She has worked on many different yards, from backing and breaking to riding schools to polocrosse, and is also a former Camel Jockey for Joseph's Amazing Camels. Georgi spends most of her spare time cleaning up the destruction from her 3 month old Jack Russell puppy and riding friends horses.
