    - A Masterclass with Pippa Funnell - Mastering Modern Eventing

    An evening, unmounted Masterclass aiming to inspire and educate in successful riding and training horses for eventing with Pippa Funnell. The evening will appeal to not only riders wishing to learn and develop their eventing skills but also anyone who enjoys watching the sport and observing an expert at work!

    Throughout the evening  Pippa will inspire and educate by highlighting the importance of training in the preparation to go eventing at various different levels. Using hand-picked riders to demonstrate training from a young horse up through the levels to 2* plus. Pippa will herself also give a mounted demonstration during the evening.

    Donations to the Scottish Charity Air Ambulance
    will be taken for the programme. 

  • Trainer

    Pippa Funnell MBE is an icon of British Eventing and the first winner of the Rolex Grand Slam of eventing. She is married to leading British showjumper William Funnell.

    Her notable results include:

    A member of the British team at two Olympic Games where she has won team silver, individual silver and individual bronze medals. Five time senior European squad member, winning multiple medals.She has won Burghley once and Badminton three times; in 2002 and 2003 with Supreme Rock and in 2005 with Primmore’s Pride.

    Pippa also has had a successful showjumping career alongside her eventing successes. She is also heavily involved with the breeding and producing of British-bred horses in partnership with her husband William Funnell and Donal Bardwell at The Billy Stud in Surrey. 

    Pippa is a successful childrens author, writing the Tilly's Pony Tails Series of books. These books will be on sale during the evening for the younger members of the audience.

    Indoor Arena, seating, toilets and refreshments. Disabled facilities available.
    Please note there may be stairs to climb to get to some seating areas.  

  • Timings

    5:00pm - Doors open - Please be seated for the first session at 6:30pm
    6:30pm - Masterclass begins
    8:00pm - Interval - refreshments will be available from the cafe
    8:30pm - Masterclass resumes
    10:00pm - Approximate finish

  • Parking

    Ample parking on hard standing is available on site.

    SNEC is approximately 8 miles away from Edinburgh Airport.

  • Refreshments

    Hot food and refreshments will be available throughout the evening from the mobile cafe near the entrance.

  • Kit Required

    Pen and paper is optional, warm clothes. 

  • Additional Information

    A proportion of proceeds from the Masterclasses will go to the British Eventing Charitable Foundation (BECF) which was set up in 2014 to provide more opportunities for more people to enjoy the sport of eventing. More information is available here
