Day three is complete and there has been a shuffle in the standings after cross country at the Bishop Burton International Youth Championships sponsored by Baileys Horse Feeds.

The day began with a lovely, welcoming BE90 course which produced many clear rounds within the time. There were many smiling faces. The Northern team even saw 7 out of their 10 riders come home with no penalties to add. At the end of the day the East Midlands team lead into the final day but with only 1.1 point between them and the Central team.

It was the viaduct at fence 4 into the woods that caused the most trouble in the BE100. However, many more clears flew through the finishing line. The East team lead after cross country but there are only two fences between 1st and 3rd. It will be an exhilarating show jumping event tomorrow to see who the champions will be.

The 2* course has shown to be significantly challenging today. With several eliminations it has really split the field. Coming out on top is the South West team ahead by 12.9 points. A fantastic position to be in ahead of show jumping tomorrow.

Held annually in the middle of the season, the BE Youth Championships at Bishop Burton will host the BE90 Open Regional Youth Team Championship (running as a BE90Ou18), the BE100 Open Regional Youth Team Championship (running as a BE100Ou18), and the Open Novice Regional Youth Team Championship (running as a CCI2*-L).

Riders compete in regional competitions at BE90Ou18, BE100Ou18 and ONu18 level in the qualification period (1 July to 30 June each year), and selection by Regional Youth Coordinators then takes place to create a squad of up to 10 riders at each level. Riders have the opportunity to represent their region and compete both as individuals and as part of a team, with the best four scores from each region counting towards the team score. Find out more HERE.
