Stafford (1) and Pontispool (1) – cancelled

Sadly, both Stafford (1) and Pontispool (1) have been cancelled

Stafford (1) and Pontispool (1) – 14th and 15th March 2020

The team at Stafford (1) have made the difficult decision to cancel their event.  Low entries at ballot date, with the added factor of saturated ground, has meant that the event is unviable to run.  Vicky Plant and her team are hugely dedicated and have not taken this decision lightly.

Vicky said “We have sadly made the difficult decision to cancel our first event of 2020 due to multiple reasons.

We are extremely upset to have had to make this decision, and we know the disappointment that many our competitors and volunteers will feel as we feel it too, however it is simply not viable to run on this occasion.

We would like to thank everyone who had made an entry, all of our volunteers for their kind offer to join us, our sponsors and British Eventing.”

The Science Supplements BE90 and BE100 Regional Final classes, due to run at Stafford (1), have been rescheduled to take place at Eland Lodge (1) running 10th and 11th April.  These classes will be open to anyone who was previously entered for a Regional Final abandoned at the end of last season.

Pontispool (1) have also made the difficult decision to cancel their event, as the current waterlogged state of the ground has made the preparation work required for the event to run impossible.  The team at Pontispool have also been working tirelessly on their event preparation and are very disappointed to have to cancel.

Richard Mitford- Slade, Pontispool organiser, said “We are gutted to have to cancel the event as a great deal of hard work has already gone into its preparation, but with no prolonged dry weather in the next couple of weeks, the ground conditions make further event preparations impossible. We are particularly disappointed for our new title sponsor Masons Kings who provide all our gators, which are currently the only vehicles able to cross the ground! We would like to thank all our sponsors and volunteers for their continued support and understanding in making this difficult decision”

We thank all involved for their co-operation and we would like to continue to encourage members to get their entries in as early as possible.  Due to the challenging weather conditions organisers are needing to carry out additional ground work and it is therefore important that they have sufficient entries to make this work viable.

Further updates regarding fixtures will be provided when required
