Replacement 2020 fixture update
British Eventing can today [11 June 2019] share details of the events that have applied to replace the week five Belton International fixture for 2020 and beyond.
The British Eventing Fixtures Team opened an application process for a week five replacement following the announcement that Belton House will no longer be hosting an International fixture. All organisers were first invited to express their interest in applying for the available fixture, followed up with application packs sent to those who applied.
At the end of the 14 day application window, the following Organisers and Venues applied for the 2020 week five fixture:
- BEDE – Thoresby Park
- BEDE – Revesby Park
- BEDE – Carlton Towers
- Janet Plant – Weston Park
- Helen West – Bicton Arena
- William Buck – Frickley Park
- David and Robert Sayer – Great Witchingham
Following assessment of the applications from the list of venues above, the next step in the application process will see the Venue Assessment Panel (VAP) visiting selected venues. BE are very grateful to have a hugely experienced team who make up the VAP and will conduct the venue assessments:
- Yogi Breisner
- Bruce Haskell
- Paul Graham
Chris Farr, Sport Manager (Events), commented; “The Fixtures Team is delighted by the strong response to this application process. A robust, but open process is essential for the awarding of such high profile International fixtures, and careful consideration of many factors will be undertaken before a venue can be allocated this fixture.
“From this group of applications we will undoubtedly have a fantastic venue to replace Belton; however, with only one fixture during this week open for replacement, we fully appreciate there will be six venues disappointed at the conclusion of this process.”
Following the venue visits, the selected applicants will be invited to make a presentation to a Stakeholder Panel later this month. After this has taken place the successful venue and organising team will be announced.
