New U18 Eventing Championship Venue announced

Jane Peters, the Chairman of the British Eventing National Under 18 programme as well as the British Eventing Chief Executive David Holmes today announced the new location of the two national British Eventing Under 18 Regional Championships.

Jane said: “I am delighted to announce, that after much deliberation, BE has decided to select Frickley Park  in South Yorkshire as the venue of the National Saddle Centre BE100u18 Regional Team Championships and the KBIS ONu18 Regional Team Championships at the end of July 2016.”

“Some of the key factors that we had to consider in this selection were the location, accessibility as well as looking at existing facilities. Frickley Park is not only a stunning location but also very well located just off the A1 near Doncaster, so it’s an excellent central location for those coming from around the country.

“The Estate already hosts a popular BE event so the infrastructure is already well tested for such big Championship event. There will be a Captain Mark Phillips designed one star track ready for 2016, as well as on site temporary stabling and excellent spectator facilities.”

David Holmes added: “I would like to extend our gratitude to all venues who kindly took part in the bid process for the U18 Championships. We were in an extremely lucky position to choose from stunning locations with very enthusiastic and passionate Organisers who wanted to support these important Championships.  I would also again like to thank Janet Plant and her team for their dedication to running the Championships at Weston Park from the very beginning.”

The event will take place by kind permission of Mr Charlie and Mrs Jayne Warde-Aldam who own Frickley Park which is hosting the first of their two British Eventing fixtures this coming weekend (25-26 July).  The Warde-Aldam family have a passion for equestrianism in eventing, racing and hunting. Their daughter Connie has recently been short listed to represent Britain on the Charles Owen Pony Squad at this year’s European Championships.

This popular fixture which is now in its fourth year is organised by William Buck and Vanessa Fleming. Vanessa commented: “We are delighted to be selected to host the Under 18 Championship’s and the team are committed to making this a showcase event here in Yorkshire. This is an exciting step forward for Frickley Park and we look forward to welcoming everyone to the event next year“.
