Kirriemuir (1) 2020 Cancelled

It is with regret that Kirriemuir (1) Horse Trials, due to run on Saturday, 1 August, has been cancelled due to the current COVID-19 restrictions in place by the Scottish Government.

BE Regional Coordinator, Frances Hay-Smith, said; “We have worked hard with horsescotland to try to find a resolution that would ensure organiser, James Helyer, and his team could confidently prepare for the event being able to run on 1 August.

“Despite submitting our resumption of sport documents to Sport Scotland through horsescotland, we have today [15 July 2020] received notice that we will not know if we can restart sport early in Scotland until the First Minister's announcement on 30 July. This is, understandably, too short notice and we, together with Kirriemuir, have had to make the difficult decision to cancel the first fixture.”

Kirriemuir (2) is scheduled to run just a few weeks later, on 29 August. Provided restrictions are lifted such that the event can run, entries are intended to open on 7 August.
