I.T. update 27 March 2020

As previously promised, we will be keeping you all up to date on I.T. developments focused around the Entries, Admin, Results and Scoring system (EARS) and the website itself. Although our events are currently on hold, the I.T. team and wider BE office are working as hard as ever on development, enhancements and further testing.

As previously promised, we will be keeping you all up to date on I.T. developments focused around the Entries, Admin, Results and Scoring system (EARS) and the website itself. Although our events are currently on hold, the I.T. team and wider BE office are working as hard as ever on development, enhancements and further testing.

The first part of last week was heavily focused on setting up the BE office staff to ensure that the Sport and members could continue to be served remotely; by Wednesday morning the operation was fully up and running.

The team since, have taken the opportunity to review bugs and changes captured since launch, as well as feed in the suggestions made by the EARS working group in order create a plan to implement these technical efficiencies behind the scenes. Although this may have little immediate visual impact for members, these suggested enhancements include some crucial improvements that will hugely benefit the Entries Secretaries and Scorers, in turn positively impacting all end-users.

Our proposal will be shared with the EARS working group for feedback this week, prior to any changes being made.

BE Points and Placings

Another crucial piece of work that has now been successfully completed is the placings and BE Points and Placings system changes. The fundamental change that has taken place is that Salesforce, our main CRM system, will now handle all of this data instead of the old BE database, which will mean our members will see this information quicker as we will now avoid a delay of data being synchronised from one database to another. BE Points and Placings that were previously not displaying are all now showing correctly on the website – thank you for your patience with this.

Multiple Entries

We have listened to member feedback and, with agreement from the Sport and Risk Management Committee, we have reviewed the rule on the number of Events which can be entered for any given weekend. We will be lifting the system restriction currently in place and we aim to have this in place for when the eventing season resumes.

We will share another update next week to update you all on progress and key priorities.
