GB Combinations Pass First Horse Inspection at World Young Horse Championships

The 2020 FEI World Breeding Federation Eventing Championships for Young Horses in Mondial du Lion, France, got underway today with the First Horse Inspection. All British combinations in the six- and seven-year-old championship passed and will now move on to two days of dressage on Thursday and Friday, 15 – 16 October.


Six-Year-Old Championship

In the CCI2*-L for six-year-old horses, Tom McEwen will get Great Britain’s campaign started at 9.44am* on Thursday, 15 October, with Fred and Penny Barker’s MHS Brown Jack (OBOS Quality 004 X Gowran Lady). 

Monbeg Hendricks (Harlequin Du Carel X Alda Puissance), owned by Adrian Sweet and ridden by Kitty King, will be next up for GB in the six-year-old championship at 10.29am on Thursday, followed by Oliver Townend with Paul Ridgeon’s Cooley Rosalent (Valent X Bllaney Jewel), on Friday, 16 October, at 11.42am.

Seven-Year-Old Championship

Moonlight Charmer (OBOS Quality 004 X Enchanted Heart), owned by Teresa Stopford Sackville and Charlotte Heber Percy and ridden by Laura Collett, kicks things off for GB in the CCI3*-L seven-year-old championship at 2.14pm on Thursday. 

Kristina Hall-Jackson with her own Igor B (Vittorio X Erica B) and Rhian Smith riding Kim Franklin, Kerry Smith and her own Irene Leva (Everglade VDL X Oleva), follow each other in quick succession on Thursday afternoon at 3.41pm and 3.48pm.

On Friday, Rosalind Canter and Izilot DHI (Zavall VDL X Zilottie W), owned by Alex Moody and Ros, start the competition for GB in the seven-year-old class at 3.06pm. Ardeo Premier (Hold Up Premier X Playgirl), owned by Debbie and Neill Nuttall and ridden by Alex Bragg, enter the arena at 3.58pm with Polly Stockton and Susan Goodall’s Ballingowan Leia (Future Trend X Ballingown Boula) concluding the dressage for the British squad at 4.12pm.
