Eco Voltz Foundation Points League 2020 Gets Underway

With the initial month of eventing complete after the season re-start on 10 July, we are pleased to be able to take a first look at the Eco Voltz Foundation Points League, for horses and riders winning Foundation Points at BE90, BE100 and BE105 level.

 

Eco Voltz Foundation Points League - Rider

After four weekends of competition since the season re-start, Izzy Taylor leads the way in the league on 110 Foundation Points, with Sam Ecroyd and Georgie Strang sharing second place on 98 Foundation Points apiece. 

With an incredible 65 runs under her belt already this season, Izzy Taylor has enjoyed 11 top 10 finishes at BE100 level, including a win on Jane Timmis’ SBH Big Wall at Cholmondeley Castle and Alex C Phillips’ Junior Z at Oasby (1).

Since resuming sport, Sam has enjoyed five top five placings at BE90 and BE100 level, with a further three top placings from events that ran in March. Sam’s results include a win at Oasby (1), in March, on Rastaman and at Warwick Hall (3) in July with Vicki Irlam’s Harthill Bahri.

Helping towards her Foundation Points total, Georgie Strang has accumulated an impressive four wins at BE100 level along with another four top 10 placings since the beginning of the year. Georgie’s wins came at Tweseldown (1) on Diana Morrish’s Global Halifax, Swalcliffe Park on Meriel Rowson’s Rock Anthem, Barbury on Gilly Kinloch, Karen Coumbe and Georgie’s Speedwell and Dauntsey Park (1) with Carolyn Bates’ A Moment In Time.

Eco Voltz Foundation Points League – Horse

In the same league for horses, it’s Maggie Sargent’s Canyon du Fort Vert who shares the top spot with Diane Brunsden, Tim Price and Peter Cattell’s Chio 20 on 46 Foundation Points. 

In their first three runs of 2020, both Laura Collett and the eight-year-old gelding, Canyon du Fort Vert, and Tim Price with six-year-old Chio 20, have not placed outside of the top two, both taking two wins each at BE100 level.

Canyon du Fort Vert’s second place came at Tweseldown (3) followed by a double of wins at Aston Le Walls (3) and Childeric Saddles Little Downham (2). While Tim and Chio 20 picked up their second place at Barbury with wins at Bicton Arena (2) and Cholmondeley Castle. 

David King's MBF Arctic Emperor (ridden by Emily King), Vicki Irlam's Chapel House (ridden by Sam Ecroyd) and Challenge Z, owned and ridden by Constance Copestake, all share third place on 42 Foundation Points.

Eco Voltz Grassroots Foundation Points League – Riders

(Open to rider horses and riders winning Foundation Points at BE90, BE100 and BE105 level, who are eligible to compete at the Science Supplements Cup at Badminton)

Katie Stephens-Grandy heads up the Grassroots Foundation Points League on 40 points, after placing inside the top ten at every one of her seven BE90 and BE100 starts this season. Katie has also taken a win in the BE100 on Mr Music and BE90 on Rathcline Kestrel at Oasby (1).

Alice Gates’ second place at the Oasby (1) BE100 Regional Final, sixth place at Aston Le Walls (3) BE100 and win at Childeric Saddles Little Downham B (2) in the BE105 riding Star 12, have helped her to a total of 36 Foundation Points to hold second place in the league. 

Placing third in the BE100 and second in the BE90 at Aske riding Northern Echo and Jonjo Star respectively, and taking another second place in the BE100 at Warwick Hall (3) on Jonjo Star, Amy Simpson currently completes the top three in the league on 33 points. 

Eco Voltz  Grassroots Foundation Points League – Horses

Star 12’s impressive results that helped Alice Gates to her 36 points and second place in the rider league, puts the 14.1hh mare in the lead of the Horse League.

Sharing joint second place, Tubberscanavan Clover, owned by Katie Wood and ridden by Molly Turcan, took a season re-start win at Aske in the BE100, and followed this up with a second place in the BE100 at Frickley Park (1), helping them to earn 30 points so far this season. Joining them in second, Percivals Rebel has secured three top five BE100 results this season at Swalcliffe Park, Barbury and Offchurch Bury with Rebecca Jessett.
