Day 3 round up from the Saracen Horse Feeds Houghton International
Saturday at the Saracen Horse Feeds Houghton International has seen the cross country phase for the Saracen Horse Feeds Young Rider National Championship, CCI3*-L and CCI2*-L, whilst it was show jumping for the CCI4*-S (incorporating the FEI Nations Cup) competitors.
Four Star, including FEI Nations Cup
Four clear rounds from the British Nations Cup team today sees the team (Piggy French and Cooley Monsoon/29.2, Bubby Upton and Amy O’Connor and Rachel Upton’s Fernhill Rock Star/32, Richard Coney and his own and Wendy Coney’s Kananaskis/33.2, Eliza Stoddart and the Flint Syndicate’s Dick O Malley/34.3) head into tomorrow’s cross country phase in fourth place on a score of 94.4 penalties. Germany hold their lead with a score of 84, Sweden are in second with 87.4 and Belgium third on 92.7.

Individually, Tom McEwen is best of the Brits in sixth place on Michele Saul’s No Excuse after jumping clear to stay on 28.8 penalties.
Three Star, Saracen Horse Feed Young Rider British National Championship
Bubby Upton and Rachel Upton’s Eros DHI maintain their lead in the Saracen Horse Feeds BE Young Rider National Championship following today’s CCI3*-L cross country. Coming home clear inside the time sees the 2017 Junior European gold medallist heading in to tomorrow’s final show jumping phase on a score of 28.6 penalties.
Holding on to their second position, Phoebe Locke and her own Union Fortunus also complete today on their dressage score of 29.8 penalties, to keep Bubby and her second ride, Cola III – also owned by Rachel Upton – in third place on a score of 31.3 penalties.
Great Britain’s Holly Woodhead moves up into first place, a clear round inside the time on Scuderia 1918 Future leaves her on her dressage score of 26.4 penalties. Harry Meade with James Golob’s Gideon (30.0) and Kylie Roddy on Madelaine Woodford’s Carden Earl Grey (30.1), end today in second and third place respectively after both completing on their dressage score. Overnight leader, Piggy French and Jayne Mcgivern’s Calling Card were sadly eliminated on course.
Piggy French and The Lancer Stud’s First Lancer add nothing to their dressage score of 24.9 penalties to stay at the top of the leader board at the conclusion of today’s cross country, Belgium’s Stephanie D’Andrimont stays in second place with Casperelli on their dressage score of 26.3 penalties just ahead of GB’s Willa Newton (26.5), who also jumped clear inside the time on her own Cock A Doodle Doo.
