Codebreaker and Eliza Stoddart Return for British Eventing Young Horse Championships

A wealth of young horse talent and future superstars on the world stage are set to converge on this autumn’s Osberton International Horse Trials.

Running, October 7 to 11 at Thoresby Park, for this year only, the British Eventing Young Horse Championships for six and seven-year-olds has attracted fantastic entries.

The six-year-old final’s has 77 combinations entered, including last year’s five-year-old champion, Codebreaker and Eliza Stoddart with 49 in the seven-year-olds.

One that looks set for a very bright future, Codebreaker is a son of Cody, by Cornet Obolensky and out of Dolce Vita K. 

Bought from Vere Phillips as a just broken four-year-old, Codebreaker is delighting Leicestershire-based Eliza who is looking forward to Osberton.

“We were obviously thrilled to win the five-year-old championship last autumn and have been working slowly towards this year’s finals,” said Eliza.

“It will be great to compete at a new venue which is always very exciting and we are also currently reserve to go to the World Six-year-old Championships at Le Lion D’angers.

“Obviously it has been a difficult year but we had an excellent run at Burgham in the CCI-S2* to finish third and he feels very fit and well.

“He really is a star and a world class horse that we are producing slowly with the future in mind.  The young horse championships provide riders with something to aim for and it will be fantastic to have a run across the parkland at Thoresby.”

Also entered in the six-year-old championships are Izzy Taylor, Kitty King and Ben Way while Tom Jackson, Laura Collett, Piggy March and William Fox-Pitt are just a few of the names set contest the seven-year-old finals.

Running alongside the young horse championships will be prestigious CCI2* long format and CCI3* long format sections.
