Bronze position for NAF Junior European Squad after cross-country

The NAF Junior European squad all completed the cross-country course today at the European Championship in Maarsbergen, Holland with the team finishing just 0.1 points behind Ireland to sit in bronze position going into the final phase tomorrow.

Elicia Miller and her own A Sunny Bay did a fantastic job as trailblazers for the NAF Junior team in today’s cross country phase. Textbook riding from the first British competitor out on course saw them home clear inside the time to stay on their score of 38.4 penalties. Next out for the team, Leila Paske looked in control with the Paske Sydicate’s Billy McFee bringing home another clean score for the British team finishing on her dressage of 29.0, which puts the duo in a fantastic 5th place individually.

Saffie Osborne riding Lord and Lady Blyth’s Lakantus sadly picked up 20 jumping penalties at fence 7a, closing the day on a score of 44.8. Alice Casburn, riding individually on Caroline Casburn’s Topspin II, had another smart clear round to finish on her dressage score of 36.4, going into the showjumping in 25th position. Finally, for the NAF Juniors, we saw Georgia Bartlett present a fantastic round with her own Spano de Nazca to secure her 6th place individually on a score of 29.8.

Darrell Scaife, Chairman of the NAF Junior Programme, commented “Four squad members clear inside the time after a challenging cross country day. Our overnight leader, Saffie Osborne picked up 20 penalties at fence 7a. Still everything to play for in the medal table going into SJ tomorrow morning.”
