BE announce Youth Performance Manager

British Eventing is delighted to welcome Darrell Scaife in to the role of Youth Performance Manager.

Darrell brings a huge amount of experience in coaching and developing younger riders through his role as Director of Riding at Stonar School and as the Chair of Selectors and Chef d’Equipe to British Junior Squad, along with being a Fellow of the British Horse Society and BE Master Coach.

Darrell has also undertaken the important role of Chef d’Equipe to Zimbabwe Eventing where he led Zimbabwe's first equestrian, Camilla Kruger, to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Since becoming Chair of Selectors and Chef d’Equipe to British Junior Squad in 2014, the GBR team have seen much success taking four team and three individual medals at the Junior European Championships.

On his appointment, Darrell commented; “I’m looking forward to creating a programme which offers a clear arc of progress for athletes as they journey through the BE Youth Programmes. The aim is to continue to deliver medal winning results at European Championships, help to facilitate success at Senior level, and to offer a programme which allows athletes to develop, progress and remain engaged with the sport whether or not they achieve squad selection.”

This new role will oversee the British Eventing Junior and Young Rider Programmes following this year’s Youth European Championships at Maarsbergen, the Netherlands, from 10 - 14 July.
