Course description

This is a Championship class with up to 29 fences. Fence dimensions, course length and technical difficulty will be set accordingly. The cross-country course runs over undulating ground with a substantial uphill stretch to the finish; both riders and horses must be fit.

This Championship class is only open to qualified horses and riders.

Entries include VAT. Entries to be made online via British Eventing website. Entry amendments no later than noon on 16 August 2020 by email
Refund Policy 100% refund will be given for withdrawals before closing date. No refunds thereafter.
Starting Times will be available on 29 August between 6 – 8pm on 07710 919038 or via British Eventing and Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials websites.
Starting fees include a programme and VAT.


All competitors will be sent one competitor wristlet, plus vehicle entry pass for their horsebox/vehicle towing a trailer (to cover the period of the BE80(T) Championship only).
Additionally, one complimentary Season admission ticket (not including vehicle pass) to the CCI 5* Event (Wednesday, 2 September – Sunday, 6 September.)
A further vehicle pass will be allocated for support team access to the BE80(T) Championship for use Monday, 30 August – Wednesday, 2 September along with 2 admission tickets to the CCI 5* Event on Wednesday, 2 September.

Please apply and pay for your stable when making your entry.  NO stable bookings will be taken after close of entries (4th August). 
Stabling will be available from noon on Monday, 31 August up until Thursday, 3 September, at which time all horses, horseboxes, cars and sleeping units (tents etc) must be leave the site prior to 8am or after 1 pm.
Stabling includes 2 bales of shavings at a cost of £175 (including VAT).
Stabling costs will be refunded less £15.00 admin charge to any withdrawals on or before 4 August 2020.
Hand grazing only on Thursday, 3 September – no ridden exercise or lungeing will be permitted.

All terrain vehicles/motorcycles/bikes (including ebikes) will not be permitted.

Burghley Park is a large shooting estate and pheasant pens will be in the vicinity of the BE80(T) venue. Presently we are allowing competitors and connections to bring dogs.  If this changes you will be informed accordingly. It is imperative that Dogs must be kept on a short lead at all times (extending leads are not permitted).

BE Officials and Organisers car passes and BE membership cards do not give admission to either the BE80(T) Championships or the main CCI Event.

Accommodation and Catering

Only horseboxes and vehicles towing trailers of those entered into the BE80(T) Championship will be permitted to remain on site overnight. Showers will be provided for competitors staying on site and catering units will be open during the day.

Classes and fees

The majority of combinations will complete the dressage phase on Tuesday, 1 September. The main showground will be closed on Tuesday. The balance of the dressage, all show jumping, followed by the cross country will take place on Wednesday, 2 September.

The starting order for this Championship will be drawn and all riders must be prepared to perform their dressage on either day.


No prize money will be awarded and prizes in kind will be confirmed by close of entries.
