Course Builders and Designers

Why should I use a BE Accredited Designer or Builder?

The British Eventing Accredited Course Designer and Course Builder lists were started a number of years ago to recognise the course designers and builders delivering cross country courses to the high standards expected in the sport of eventing. Since its inception the lists of BE Accredited Course Builders and Designers have gone from strength to strength to their current, comprehensive form.
The BE Accredited Course Designer and Builder lists are the only lists of competent practitioners within the Cross Country Course Building industry that are accepted by the governing body of the sport of Eventing in the UK. BE Accredited Course Designers and Builders are regularly assessed on the quality and safe standards of their work while providing services to BE events.
By choosing a professional Course Builder and / or Designer who is on the BE Accredited list, you will be ensuring your cross country course will adhere to the highest known safety standards as well as providing an appropriate challenge for riders at a specific level.

Course Builder Categories

Accredited Course Builders are divided into four base categories (Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze) which differentiate which level they are able to build courses to. Bronze level Course Builders are restricted to building courses at thier own venue. The table below shows the different type of BE Accredited Course Builders and also helps you to identify the right category on the Course Builder Directory

Category Description
Platinum Can build XC courses at any level.
Gold All levels, except CCI3* and CCI4* as lead builder
Silver  Up to and including Intermediate
Bronze (Restricted) Up to and Including Novice at own venue only.

Course Designer Categories

Accredited Course Designers are also divided into three base categories (List A, List B and List C) differentiating the level that they can build courses to. The table below shows the different type of BE Accredited Course Designers and also helps you to identify the different categories on the Course Designer Directory.

Category Description
List A    Can design Advanced courses
List B  Can design up to and including Intermediate courses.
List C Can design up to and including BE100 courses.

Course Builders and Designers are split into having either Professional or Restricted status (with the exception of Bronze level Builders, who are all Restricted due to their level of experience). A Professional Builder or Designer can build or design at more than one Event venue, while a restricted Builder or Designer can only build or design at one venue or at nominated venues under the mentorship of a BE Accredited Builder or Designer at a higher level, or a Technical Adviser (TA).

Only Professional Builders and Designers are included within the Directories.

Candidate levels are also offered to those wishing to become a BE Accredited Course Builder or Designer or work up to the next level. If you are a Course Designer or Builder interested in becoming a candidate, please visit our Training & Education part of the site.
