The Open Novice Under 18 (ONu18) Programme is a training and competition schedule designed to provide riders with competitive experience alongside others in their age group. They will also develop a greater knowledge of the sport with an aim to furthering their riding careers. It also provides a stepping stone between the Pony Programme, BE100 Open Under 18 (BE100Ou18) Programme and those ready to take part in the Junior Programme.
Who can join the ONu18 Programme?
The ONu18 Programme is open to all eligible members who have their 12th to 18th birthday in the current year and are capable and qualified to compete at BE Open Novice level.

Are you competing at BE100 level?
If you are not quite ready to step up to Novice level, the BE100Ou18 Programme is for riders competing at, or progressing to, BE100 level. The Programme offers training and competition opportunities, and aims to develop combinations hoping to compete at the BE100Ou18 Regional Team Championships.
Open Novice Under 18 Regional Classes and Regional Championships
The country is divided into eight regions, each with its own Under 18 Regional Coordinator, and riders are required to register for their region to compete in ONu18 classes. Each region will hold a minimum of four ONu18 qualifying competitions, giving riders the opportunity to be selected for their regional team and compete in the ONu18 Regional Team Championships, held at CCI2*-L level. Riders competing in Under 18 regional classes will benefit from free coaching support and course walks from our experienced BE Accredited Coaches.
The Open Novice Under 18 Regional Team Championship
Held at CCI2*-L level, the ONu18 Regional Team Championship sees each of the eight regions enter a team of 10 riders, with the four best scores at the end of the competition counting as the regional team score. Riders also compete individually.
