Under 18 Programme

The BE Under 18 Programme runs alongside the 12 – 21 Training Programme, giving riders a series of training and competition opportunities for those who are aiming for the BE Under 18 Regional Team Championships, hosted at Frickley Park in July.

Do I need to register?

Every Under 18 member is encouraged to register on the Under 18 Programme. Registration is free and you do not need to be competing at BE90 Open, BE100 Open or Open Novice level to be eligible to register. Registering on an Under 18 Programme allows you to enter under 18 classes and ensures you will receive communications relating to under 18 training and events. You will need to be registered on the BE Under 18 Programme if you wish to be considered for selection for your region in the Under 18 Regional Team Championships.

To attend regional BE training, you do not need to be registered on an Under 18 Programme, as the training is open to all levels for members and non-members.

Which Under 18 Programme is right for me?

  • Riders who would like to compete in the BE90 Open under 18 (BE90u18) classes and aim for BE90Ou18 Regional Team Championship will need to register for the BE90 Open Under 18 Programme.
  • Riders who would like to compete at BE100 Open under 18 (BE100Ou18) level and aim for The National Saddle Centre BE100Ou18 Regional Team Championship will need to register for the BE100 Open Under 18 Programme.

  • The Open Novice Under 18 Programme is for those looking to compete at Open Novice under 18 (ONu18) classes and aim for the Novice Under 18 Regional Team Championship, run at CCI2*-L level.

About registration

  • If you wish to compete in the BE Under 18 classes, and be eligible for the BE Under 18 Regional Team Championships, you will need to register on the appropriate programme (either BE90Ou18, BE100Ou18 and/or ONu18 in your region).

  • If a rider has multiple horses, each combination will need to be registered on the programme.

  • A new registration for each combination will need to be completed for every level at which the rider wishes to compete.

  • Registration will allow you to compete in BE90Ou18, BE100Ou18 and/or ONu18 classes in your region, the results from which the Regional Under 18 Coordinators will use when selecting their teams for the BE Under 18 Regional Team Championships.

  • Don't forget that minimum eligibility requirements for BE90, BE100 and Novice level apply to Under 18 classes as per the BE Rules and Members' Handbook

Which region am I in?

View the BE Under 18 Programme region map HERE.

The country is divided into eight regions, each of which has an Under 18 Regional Coordinator who is your first point of contact. If you live on the border of two regions you can opt for the region in which you compete most frequently.

Each region also has two or three dedicated Under 18 BE Accredited Coaches who deliver quality training for all riders at all levels; you can find out more about the current regional training opportunities in your area HERE or contact training@britisheventing.com if you are unsure which region to register for.

How do I register?

  • If you haven't done so already, register your details with British Eventing. The legal parent/guardian must also register - instructions on how to register an under 18 can be found HERE.

  • If you haven't done so already, register your horse with British Eventing. Instructions on how to do so can be found HERE.
