12 - 21 Training & Under 18 Programmes

The 12 - 21 Training Programme and Under 18 Programme is split into eight regions, with a designated team of U18 Regional Coordinators, Assistants and specific U18 Regional BE Accredited Coaches assigned to each region. There is a comprehensive programme of training for all levels of rider, from BE80 to Novice and beyond, as well as preparation training sessions for the BE100Ou18 and the ONu18 classes held in each region.

12-21 Training Programme
The British Eventing 12 – 21 Training Programme has been developed to increase the opportunities for riders up to the age of 21 with access to high quality, tailored training.

Expanding on the existing BE under 18 Programme, the 12 – 21 Training Programme is open to both BE members and non-members and is for riders who have never experienced a BE event through to those training and competing at Novice level. The goal of the training programme dedicated to riders of this age is to boost confidence through supportive training and help them to achieve future goals.

BE Under 18 Programme - Competition
The BE Under 18 Programme runs alongside the 12-21 Training Programme, giving riders in their 12th-18th birthday year competitive opportunties, split into two levels: BE100Ou18 and ONu18 level.

In order to compete in the Under 18 Classes, riders must be:

  • in the year of their 18th birthday or younger;
  • meet the Minimum Eligibility Requirements (MERs) for the level in which they will be competing (BE100Ou18 and ONu18). Guidance on the MERs can be found in the Rules and Members' Handbook under rule 2.9.5.
  • be registered onto the programme in their region with each horse they intend to compete. If a rider has multiple horses, they must be registered on the programme with each horse.
