If you have ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at a BE Event then come along to Access all Areas (AAA) at Aston Le Walls

We will be visiting all the key areas and meeting the officials that run the event. You may have thought about being a volunteer but are not sure what is involved. This represents an excellent opportunity to really get behind the scenes under the guidance of Janice Hawes, a long standing volunteer for British Eventing, who has prepared a tour and opportunity to meet the key people involved in running a successful Event.

This day has been made possible using funding from Sport England, granted by the British Equestrian Federation to the British Eventing Charitable Foundation. For more information about the British Eventing Charitable Foundation please visit

  • Trainer

Janice Hawes has volunteered for British Eventing at numerous Events and has real insight into the huge effort it takes to run a BE Event. As a volunteer for many years and having received "Volunteer of the year Award" she is perfecty placed to showcase the key areas that are involved in the success of an Event.

  • Facilities

This course will take place at the BE Event whilst it is running. It will all take place outdoors so please come prepared for the weather.

  • Timings

Plan to arrive at 13.00 in the Sponsors Tent for Welcome & Introductions where the afternoon involves a tour of the Secretaries tent and role, BE Scorers, meet with the Chief Dressage Steward, move onto the Show Jumping ring and talk to the course designer.
Finishing the afternoon with an opportunity to talk to a professional Rider, walk the course and visit the busy hub of the control box at the start of the cross country to see how the Steward and fence judge controller keep everything ticking along.

A busy afternoon is scheduled under the expert guidance of Janice Hawes, accessing normally unseen areas behind the scenes. The afternoon covers everything from Secretary's Tent and arrival to a cross country course walk.
