Long Term Athlete Development
Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) is about defining the best environment and activities for a given athlete (rider, driver or vaulter) as they develop. It applies to both recreational riders, drivers and vaulters, and especially to competitive riders, drivers and vaulters.
The BEF Long Term Athlete Development framework for riders, drivers and vaulters can be downloaded in PDF format - see right.
LTAD considers each athlete as an individual, from young childhood until retirement and beyond, while examining common stages of development throughout an equestrian life-span or career. It offers insights into optimal training and recovery programmes to help aspiring athletes to achieve their true potential. It offers suggestions to the athlete's parents, family, coaches and others, in order to best support their equestrian development and personal enjoyment and satisfaction.
