What is the BE80(T)?

BE80(T) AirowearGet started in British Eventing with the BE80(T) - where the 'T' stands for Training

The BE80(T) competition is the introductory level of competition into the sport of eventing. Fences are a height of 80cm and a British Eventing Accredited Coach is on hand at each BE80(T) competition to help and support competitors free of charge.

Who can compete in a BE80(T)?
If you are not yet a members of BE you can simply purchase a Day Pass Membership which will allow you to buy a Training pass to compete for one day.

What's involved in a BE80(T) class?

Dressage

Combinations first ride a BE90 level dressage test of approximately four and a half minutes.

Show jumping

The show jumping phase is next and the course will be built to be encouraging and flowing with between seven and ten numbered obstacles including one double combination and at least three spreads.

Cross Country

The final phase is the cross country and the course will again be designed to be encouraging and will include water (run in and out) and straightforward combinations.

All fences will be to BE specifications and are measured as follows;

Course Length - 1600 – 2800m
Speed - 435mpm
Jumping Efforts - 18 – 25
Max Height - 0.80m
Max Top Spread - 0.90m
Max Base Spread - 1.25m
Max Spread (no height i.e. ditch) - 1.00m
Max Height Fence with Drop - 1.20m
Max Depth of water - 0.20m

Do I have to use the BE Accredited Coach?

BE80(T) classes are one of the best ways to get in to the sport because dedicated BE Accredited Coaches are there to help competitors warm up in the show jumping, walk the courses and answer all of your eventing questions. You are under no obligation to use the coaches but we advise that you make the most of their expert advice.
