The Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials 8 & 9 year old Championships

Jonelle Price Blenheim 2014The 8 and 9 year old horse British CIC3*class was introduced to Blenheim's schedule of competition in 2009 and has been specifically developed for those aiming for International stardom.

It has now become part of the British Championship season as it has developed a strong reputation for offering a key step on the pathway for up and coming horses.

Past winners have gone on to achieve considerable CCI4* success, notably 2010 champion NZB Land Vision winning Badminton in 2011 with Mark Todd, 2011 title-holder William Fox-Pitt clinching the top spot at Pau partnered by Oslo and 2012's winners Andrew Nicholson and Quimbo going on to win Kentucky 4* the following Spring.

Competition format:
This class sees the dressage take place first before the show jumping in the main arena, the winner is then decided after an exciting conclusion in the final cross country phase.

This course is similar to the CCI3* class, taking place around the spectacular grounds of the Blenheim Palace estate but takes place over a slightly shorter, less technical course than the CCI3* competition.  Accuracy and skill are still at a premium in this high-pressure phase where even small mistakes prove costly on the leaderboard, and only the best will triumph!

See the right hand side box-out for the roll of honour for this class.
