Information for International Classes and Events

Team GBR

This is a check list of what you need to have in place before you can compete in any FEI event.

Horses must have had their first two primary injections against equine influenza.

The second injection, or any subsequent booster injection, must have been given within six months of arrival at the competition and leaving 7 clear days before entry to FEI stables or date of competition.

If the event date coincides with a six monthly injection date, there is a 21 day window which can be used so that the horse could be injected up to 21 days after the event  e.g. last booster date 01.02.2017; event date and booster date 01.08.2017;  the new booster can either be given before the event, leaving 7 clear days, or before 22.08.2017.

All horses applying for an FEI registration for the first time MUST be microchipped.

FEI Horse and Rider Registrations
The FEI require all horses and riders to have an annual registration before they can compete at any level.  Registrations are valid from January to December and cost £17 per horse and £17 per rider.  You will be given an FEI number which needs to be entered on your entry forms.  Application forms can be downloaded from the right hand side of your screen and sent in to the BE office.

FEI Passports
FEI passports are required for any level event abroad and three* and above in the UK.  If you need a passport you can download an application form from the right hand side of your screen and send it to the BE office. An FEI passport is comprised of a recognition card and the original national passport (full FEI passports are no longer issued).  FEI passports are valid for 4 years and must be re-validated via the BE office so that they are current at the time of competition.  This can take up to two weeks during the main event season.  A new passport and  re-validation FEI passport costs £211.  If the national passport has no Section 9 (DEFRA pages) the cost to add this is  £35 on top of the new passport.

The earliest a passport can be re-validated, is two months before the expiry date on the passport.

Entries for UK FEI events can be made online or by downloading CIC/CCI entry forms.

Entries for FEI events abroad are made via the BE Office.  You need to contact Gemma Harriss on 02476 698860 or

If you are uncertain whether you/your horse are qualified for the level that you wish to enter, please ring Gemma and she can check your qualifications.
