British Junior Programme sponsored by Racesafe

Identifying Talented Junior Riders

Racesafe Juniors Euro team silver 2018

The purpose of the Racesafe Junior Programme is to identify talented junior riders and their horses that may have the potential for international recognition and to provide help and encouragement to develop that talent and potential.

The Junior Selectors and the Junior Team Coach will be working closely with the U18 Regional Co-ordinators and Regional Coaches who will be helping to identify suitably talented combinations from the U18 Novice Programme.

A programme of training with the Junior Team Coach during the early months of 2018 will provide opportunities for education for riders and their connections. Formal trials at selected venues and open competitions at other venues, will give riders a chance to demonstrate their potential in competition.

If it is possible, the Selectors may invite riders to travel abroad for experience to events in Europe in the spring or early summer. These trips will be self-funding

Whilst these Championships will represent the peak for the chosen squad, every effort will be made for all who participate in the Programme, to gain from the education and the competition and to have fun whilst doing so.

The 2018 Junior European Championships take place from 9th - 15th July in Fontainebleau, France. Previous British Junior achievements can be found HERE

The Junior Trials:

Selectors will be at each Trial and Caroline Moore; the Team Coach will be conducting a course walk at each Trial for those who wish to join her.

The 2018 Junior European Championships take place much earlier than previous years. Therefore, the selection committee will announce a list of potential contenders for a European squad place after the CCI1* selection trial at Jardy.

Although Jardy will feature as the main Spring CCI1* selection trial, the selectors are mindful that this may be difficult for some of those taking exams. Therefore consideration will be given to competitors competing in CCI1* competitions elsewhere in the spring calendar.

The selection committee will also announce a Junior Development Squad after the Junior National Championships at Brand Hall. The Development Squad will contend the CICJ1* Nations Cup at Waregem in September 2018.
