British Junior Programme sponsored by Hows Racesafe

Identifying Talented Junior Riders

British Eventing team Junior double gold 2011

The purpose of the Junior Programme is to identify talented junior riders and their horses that may have the potential for international recognition and to provide help and encouragement to develop that talent and potential.

The Junior Selectors and the Junior Team Coach will be working closely with the U18 Regional Co-ordinators and Regional Coaches who will be helping to identify suitably talented combinations from the U18 Novice Programme.

A programme of training with the Junior Team Coach during the early months of 2014 will provide opportunities for education for riders and their connections. Formal trials at selected venues and open competitions at other venues, will give riders a chance to demonstrate their potential in competition.

If it is possible, the Selectors may invite riders to travel abroad for experience to events in Europe in the spring or early summer. These trips will be self-funding.

In the summer of 2014, a squad will be chosen to represent Great Britain at the Junior European Championships.

Whilst these Championships will represent the peak for the chosen squad, every effort will be made for all who participate in the Programme, to gain from the education and the competition and to have fun whilst doing so.

The programme is managed by Chairman of Selectors Ginnie Keen. Coaching will be delivered by national under 18 coach, Caroline Moore
