Indiana Limpus 2017 CIC2* 31 Jul 17

Brilliant bronze and sought after silver for the Owl Financial CIC2* squad

This weekend the Owl Financial British CIC2* squad excelled in the jumping phases at the CIC2* European Championships to return victorious from Tongeren, Belgium, with a hard fought team silver and individual bronze medal.

On the first day of competition an error in the team dressage test left the British squad heavily penalised and off the pace heading into the cross country and show jumping phases. In the individual dressage test Indiana Limpus was the only British rider to break the sub 50 dressage mark leaving her as best of the Brits in 17th position after dressage.

On cross country day the whole team pulled together to showcase some incredible cross country riding over a tough track. Only three riders came home inside the optimum time and all three of them were British riders; Indiana, Nicola Hill and Jack Pinkney. There successful day shot all the GB squad up the rankings in both the team and individual competition with Indiana rising to bronze medal position and the team to silver.

Another brilliant performance from the Owl Financial sponsored CIC2* team in the show jumping secured the team of; Indiana, Nicola Hill, Steve Garrod, Lauren Mclusky, Simon Ashworth and Victoria Leabeater with their silver medal. Despite having one fence down, Indiana took home a fantastic individual bronze (pictured) on Mrs Caroline Perry’s 11 year old gelding Bronze Dandylion.

Chef d'Equipe, Peter Buist commented; "Cross country day was just amazing - the course was challenging and we knew the time would be tight. Only three riders managed the time and they were all Brits. Our performance on the cross country pulled us up to second in the team classification and we held onto that in the show jumping."

Great British finished with six of the squad, including individual rider Jack Pinkney, in the top 20, Belgium took a deserved team gold with individual gold going to Wouter de Cleene, also for Belgium.
