Tim Finch Dalston Green 2016 21 Feb 17

In memoriam; Tim Finch 1935-2017

British Eventing was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Tim Finch on Thursday 16th February, at the age of 82.

Tim, from Jedburgh in Scotland, had been commentating at BE events across Scotland and the North for over 35 years. Tim was described by Cumbria Horse Trials Director Douglas Weymouth as the perfect gentleman, with decades of knowledge behind him, adding “Tim’s wonderful voice and great character will be sorely missed by all.”

In 2016 Tim received a British Eventing award for 50 years of service to the sport, presented at Dalston Green Horse Trials in September. BE Steward Jamie Innes noted, “Tim was known for being the voice of eventing in the region, volunteering at a multitude of events including Floors Castle, Cumbria Horse Trials, Aske and Central Scotland to name only a few.”

Tim’s funeral will be held at 2.30pm on Monday 27th February at Bowden Church, Roxburghshire. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
