Mark Todd Bridging the Gap Training news for 2014 17 Dec 14

Mark Todd Bridging the Gap announces exciting new developments for 2015

The organising team behind the popular British Eventing ‘Mark Todd Bridging the Gap’ Training Series, designed for 2* and 3* level riders have now revealed the 2015 training dates along with some exciting developments to roll out over the next two years.

Sponsored by Keyflow and the Mark Todd Collection, the MTBTG series is also supported by the British Equestrian Federation (BEF)’s Excel programme which is funded by Sport England.

The main developments planned for 2015 include former Olympian and three times Mitsubishi Motors Badminton winner Pippa Funnell providing an exclusive Winter Development Day exclusively for riders who have been involved in the MTBTG series in 2014. Also new for the season ahead is the introduction of a training scheme for 1* level riders – ‘Stepping Stones Training’ under the MTBTG banner.

In 2016 the MTBTG series aims to introduce a European Tour, allowing riders to observe and absorb the Coaching techniques of several highly respected trainers; Christoff Hess and Ingrid Klimke are the calibre of two of the Coaches that BE hopes to engage.

The 2015 MTBTG training dates have now also been announced, including dressage, show jumping, cross country and a combined training competition, all with coaching support from highly renowned BE Accredited Coaches Gill Watson and Lizzel Winter.

Free Course walks and Coaching support from the MTBTG trainers will also be offered once again to MTBTG riders at select CCI/CIC 3* and Advanced Events throughout the BE circuit this coming season.

Pippa Funnell joins MTBTG

During the Winter Development day, Pippa will perform a ridden demonstration, after which she will talk about her training philosophy to produce a successful event horse and encourage discussion amongst the attendees. The day offers an ideal opportunity for the MTBTG riders to develop and increase the understanding of fundamental issues relating to the production and sustainability of competition horses.

Stepping Stones

Introduced based on a high demand in 2013-14, a pilot Stepping Stones Training date will be run in July 2015 to incorporate dressage and show jumping training with both MTBTG trainers. The day is designed for riders aiming towards specific CCI* events in 2015, including Bicton Arena International (3), Gatcombe International, Weston Park International and Osberton International.
