Nicola Wilson and Opposition Buzz, Europeans 2011 10 Nov 14

A sad farewell to Opposition Buzz

It was with great sadness that we yesterday learned of the passing of Nicola Wilson's 'horse of a lifetime' Opposition Buzz, owned by Rosemary Search.

The black British-bred gelding by Fleetwater Opposition, known as 'Dodi' was put to sleep yesterday at the age of 17, further to veterinary advice following a seizure in the morning, confirmed by a statement from Nicola

Together the pair had ten years together as a fantastically competitive partnership, starting at Novice level in March 2004 before going on to achieve many highlights together, most notably being part of the silver medal winning British Team at the London 2012 Olympics.

Their successes for Britain started in 2009 at the European Championships where their debut was as part of the gold medal winning team (placed ninth individually). They were again on another gold medal winning team at the 2010 World Equestrian Games (taking 15th place individually) plus a team bronze in Luhmühlen at the 2011 European Championships in Germany (16th place).

'Dodi' had many top ten results at four star level in his career, ending in a very competitive 10th place at the 2013 Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials. He completed the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials a total of five times with Nicola, as well as three Burghley top ten completions. He also dominated the lead board overseas including an 11th place at Rolex Kentucky in 2009.

Opposition Buzz amassed an incredible 2,324 points in his lifetime, view his fantastic form here.

Our thoughts are with Rosemary, Nicola and everyone connected to this outstanding horse at this sad time.
